In-House Computer Training

From 21-27 October 2006, BWU members Ea Wah and Than Dar Aung attended a week In house computer training facilitated by computer teachers, Khun Patrick and Shwe Myo Thant with the support of the Open Society Institute (OSI).

Documentation and Research Department

Big bang

The documentation department has done research, documented information and organized roundtable discussion to get all the background information and activities that have been done by BWU and the achievement of BWU.

Executive Committee and Central Committee meetings In October

BWU 1st EC meeting was held just after the fifth congress between 4 and 5 in October. In the meeting, newly elected 9 members of executive committee members attended the meeting. In the meeting, have divided work responsibilities, informed the information and activities that have been done and to be continued in the future and laid down future work plan based on the policy decided in the congress.

Holding commemorative events in three regions

The BWU members in Ma Lar Oo, Noe Pa-a and Mae La will continue to mobilize among themselves and hold commemorative events on important days such as International Women’s Day, International Mothers Day, International Day to End Violence Against Women, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s Birthday, and “8888”.

Holding monthly roundtable discussions

BWU regional leaders in Region (1), (2), and (5) which are located in Mae Lar Oo, Noe Pa-a and Mae La refugee camps on Thai border hold monthly discussions on women issues, health, social and political issues with regards to Burma to improve the knowledge and capacity of members in their regions.

BWU Fifth Congress

Every two years, the BWU organizes a conference and has been mandated under the BWU constitution. During these conferences, we review our accomplishments, discuss future programs and activities, and elect new leaders for the upcoming term. Our fifth conference will be held in July 2007.
