Workshops on DV and Sexual Harassment

by Noe Noe Htet San and 23 women and men from different Chaing Mai CBOs and migrant workers attended the workshop. We got the participants from Kachin Women Association Thailand, Lahu Women Organization, Shan Women Action Network, Burmese Women’s Union, Human Rights Education and Institute of Burma, NEED, Nationality Youth Forum and Network Media Group and some of the individual from the migrant community in Chiang Mai.

B. Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment Workshop in Mae Sot

BWU organized Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment workshop in Mae Sot from 25-29 May 2007 especially for women from Mae La refugee camp and women migrant women workers. There were 6 women from Mae La refugee camp, BWU region (5) and 14 women from migrant community, especially from Mae Pa clothing factory, Union Ocean factory and TK Clothing factory joined the workshop and the workshop was facilitated by Naw Lay Dee and Mar Mar Aye.

C. Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment Workshop in Mae Sot

Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment workshop was organized in Mae Sot from 19-23 April, 2007 and this workshop was especially targeted for wives of the political activists and women representatives from different organizations based in Mae Sot. The main trainers were Noe Noe Htet San and Naw Lay Dee. There were 12 women participants from Tayoy Women Union, Oversea Mon Women Organization, CPPCR, AWU, YCOWA and BWU itself and we have wives from Association for All Political Prisoners of Burma, Human Rights Documentation Unit, National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma and one formal women political prisoner attended the workshop. All together there were 16 total trainees were in the workshop.

D. Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment Workshop in Mae La Oo Refugee Camp

Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment workshop was organized from 22-26 March 2007 and the workshop took place at Mae Lar Oo refugee camp, near Mae Suri, Thailand. There were 21 registered trainees and 4 observers of BWU members, Network for Democracy and Development members, ABSDF members and other individual attended the workshop. The workshop was facilitated by Naw Lay Dee and Ma Myint Myint.

E. Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment Workshop in BWU Region (2), near Mae Hong Son

The Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment workshop was held in BWU Region No (2) in near by Mae Hong Song camp call Nop Pa Ah refugee camp, from April 29 to May 3 2007. 18 members BWU members, students and local women living at the camp attended the workshop and the workshop was facilitated by Naw Lay Dee and Pale Mal.
